Check back here periodically for updates and pictures of Abby and her proud parents.
OK so it only took us 4 years of living within an hour of Raleigh to have a really good time in the capital city of North Carolina. And it was all thanks to my good friend KatieJean. Katie came down on Friday to visit.
We decided that we were going to go into Raleigh and go to IHOP. That was our major plan. Then we decided we are going into town we had better make an entire day of it. So we did. After a stomach stretching breakfast we visited Edward McKays. The used book store that I thoroughly enjoy. I can always find something good there. I am slowly expanding my library for relatively cheap. Right now I am in the Toni Morrison phase. I am looking for some good authors to read so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. After the book store we were on the search of the Raleigh Farmers Market. It is awesome. I haven't been at a farmers market that large ever. We were bombarded with people who had samples of fresh blueberries and fresh peaches. There was also a salsa woman. She had 10 different kinds of salsa, all homemade and all really, really good. We got some. And Jason and I decided we are definitely coming back to stock up on some fresh vegetables. Additionally there is a more permanent structure that holds all of the jarred foods and vegetables and jams and jellies. I found some pumpkin butter. I think I am going to get some next time just so that I can try it because it sounds really good. After a bottled soda-I had strawberry, Katie had black cherry and Jason had an RC cola. We bought two pints of fresh blueberries and headed to down town Raleigh.
To do what you ask? To find live music of course. Raleigh has some live music fest going on some Saturdays. Yesterday's main show was Candlebox. But we only stayed for 2 of the 7 bands to play. The two guys were locals. It was a great time. Sitting out in the park. The temperature wasn't too hot, which is pretty incredible given the week we've had. Abby of course made a couple of friends. This guy had been traveling around the U.S. and had started his trek with over 50 plastic turtles. Every time that he made a bond with a child (and hopefully the child's parents) he had given them a plastic turtle. He was down to his last three turtles. Abby was definitely the talk of the people sitting around us. Mostly because she was wearing the sweat band and everyone thought it looked really cute.
After two and a half hours of good live music we made our way to Jason's favorite restaurant. It is this awesome Thai place. The food is great and the restaurant is really awesomely decorated. Abby was a bit of a handful though because there was another baby sitting right next to us. I had some Pineapple Fried Rice and loved it.
Abby had some Cheerios and was good to go. Jason had something super spicy and was happy that we were able to eat at his all time favorite restaurant.
In the past three weeks we have had a lot of occurances. Abby's grandparents from Michigan came down for a visit. It had been a very long time since they had seen Abigail so there were many new things for them to be amazed by. For instance Abigail has teeth. She is crawling like crazy and she can pull herself up when standing near furniture.
She additionally has become more expressive of her excitement. She is frequently laughing and is tickilish on the side. She is also enjoying her toys more, which is good for us since we now feel a need for having so many toys and can actually enjoy a couple of seconds to ourselves when she is occupied with the array of toys that she presently owns. Sometimes for fun we attach Lennie the Lemer( I don't know how to spell it) around her neck, it is funny to watch her crawl around with him.
Michigan Grandma brought Abby a stool that she likes to play with. Mostly she enjoys putting Leap or Lily (her stuffed frogs that sing the alphabet and can still stop her crying fits) into the basket created by the legs and push them around. It is really funny to watch because she is utilizing her super crawling speed to try and keep up with the stool.
Michigan Grandpa got to spend some quality time reading with Abigail, although it took a little while for her to stop crying upon meeting him...Apparently Abby was scared upon initial meeting. I am including two pictures. The first picture is a little bit dark but a better picture. The second shows up more but no one is smiling...oops.
By the way, Abigail is getting better at the Uh- oh. It actually sounds like it now...
