Check back here periodically for updates and pictures of Abby and her proud parents.
Hello all those who still check Abby's blog. I know that we have been really bad about posting on a consistent basis, I could say that we have been super busy and just haven't the time but that isn't the case. I think it might be that we don't really have a computer set up that is conducive to writing blogs, too much going on and an awkward angle to type at. Either way, we have been neglect those to whom this is the way you see Abigail grow up. I apologize greatly.
Things have been going pretty well. We are coming to end of the school year which is a new treat for me. Although I have been teaching for 4 years, I have never had a summer break. I am wicked excited about what the next 3 months are going to bring, both to Abby and myself, and Jason too. I will be working at a vegetable farm this summer. Picking strawberries, planting cucumbers, cutting asparagus, you name it. Three out of the last four Sundays, I have been riding behind a tractor transplanting little plants into the ground. It is a lot of fun, dirty & dusty but you have a good amount of job completion, which does the mind good. I am also learning to knit. My mom, aka grammie is an awesome knitter, so I am taking advantage of her expertise. The following is a picture of my 2nd project, the 1st project is lost in our house/room somewhere. It is for Abby, this one was for sale for my mom.
A good friend of ours moved from camp to live in New York soon after Abby was born, we were excited to be able to see Bridget when we moved home to Vermont. Unfortunately, she moved to Florida a month or so ago, so we were only able to see her once. Once is better than never. Bridget--I hope you are enjoying Florida!! Let us know when you are back north!!
In the last couple of months we have been happy to have a friend for Abby close by. Hannah is a couple of months younger than Abby but they enjoy playing together and always love to see each other. Hannah & her parents send their summers up in Cabot, VT at a summer camp. I used to work at this camp ages ago. Abby, Mary, and I went up to camp this past weekend to visit and see how the camp had changed. We also hiked up to the look out and back down. Abby rode in her backpack but truly loved the entire time. As we walked past trees she would grab the leaves and hold on until they ripped off the branches. She also kept my focus on the hike, "keep walking Mommy, you can do it!" She was my motivator up and over the rocks and then towards the end, when I realized how long it had been since I had hiked.
By the way--Abby has learned to make farting noises on the arms of friends--very cute but be forewarned!
I am hoping that Abby doesn't grow too much this summer so that we can use this pack all summer long. How great was it to have hands free while walking. Abby fell asleep on the way down the mountain, which was a peaceful ending to a good time in the woods. We are excited to head back in to nature to ensure that Abby loves it as much as we do. We should have a bunch of good pictures coming up in the next couple of weeks. We are going on our annual Friend camping trip, Hannah and her Mommy are coming to South Hero, and before we know it 4th of July will be here.
