Check back here periodically for updates and pictures of Abby and her proud parents.
Every year South Hero has an Applefest. It is a festival to celebrate the produce that is grown in abundance in South Hero. It has been going on for 19 years and continues to grow year after year. It was the first time that I had gone in 10 years. It was pretty amazing. Abby and I hitch up with Hannah and Todd and Vivian, and our friend Kristin to walk down South Street and eat some apples, some apple pie and check out the crafts that many people from South Hero are making. Our two favorite parts included the obstacle course and the pony rides. I thought I would share some of the photos with everyone. Enjoy the 2nd post in one day...see you in February.
This post will include many different parts of the fall that we have just experienced. Abby has grown up so much in the last 2 months. Not only did she have a birthday but she is for the most part completely potty trained. Including nap time. We are still working on going the whole evening staying dry but things are getting better every day. She is also talking like crazy and recognizing a number of letters, she wrote an A the other day. A for Abby as she puts it. She loves puzzles and has a very competitive nature. I don't know who she got that from...She is also very interested in growing her hair long like cinderella's. Our answer is that she needs to eat more and then she will have hair that grows longer. It has been good time to take pictures because she continues to learn and develop as an individual. I can only imagine what she is going to be like when she is a teenager, or a young adult. She still loves dresses and it is hard work getting her into pants but again the weather is working for us. It is starting to get super cold up here. They are calling for snow on Wednesday...YIKES! I am kind of excited though. I know that Jason is excited to go cross country skiing. we shall see how Abby reacts to an entire winter in Vermont.
Earlier in the fall we went to a sheep and wool festival. It was pretty neat. I am starting to learn how to knit and become more crafty. I was really impressed by the different types and the amount of wool that is coming out of Vermont. It was also pretty neat that there were a lot of kid crafts and exhibitions to observe while there. We got to see a sheep dog exhibit, an alpaca obstacle course and Abby got to make some crafts. Pretty awesome.
At this station Abby was giving a ball made of twigs and she pushed dyed wool in between the cracks. The is a multipurpose craft. It will hang on the christmas tree as an ornament and then following the Christmas season it will be put outside and the birds can come and get the wool to use in their nests for the spring. She was really excited about the process.
Abby and I have been going to the beach recently. I know, it is fall and about to snow and now is when we finally make it to beach on a consistent basis. It is a great place to relax and enjoy nature that isn't too far away. Some days there are other people their kayaking or just observing a pretty awesome view.
This beach has a long stretch of water front to play in the sand or look for "lake" glass or simply skip rocks. It is probably my favorite part of South Hero.
Toward the end of September Abby got really excited because it was getting closer to her birthday.
For her birthday we not only had a birthday party but she was baptized at the church I grew up in. It was pretty special. Mr. Crocker, the paster who married Jason and I in 2005, was able to participate in this special event as well. After the baptism we went home and had a pretty awesome 3rd birthday party. Abby was joined but a bunch of her friends--Lauren & Heather; Elizabeth, Jake & Allison; Hannah, Toddy & Vivian; Retey, Elsa, Harry, Kaight & Rob; Mary & Paul; Grammie & Bonnie. I think that this was all. It was good eating, some painting of miniture pumpkins, present opening, and cake eating. I made a mickey mouse cake that I forgot to take a picture of. It was pretty impressive. I am bummed I forgot.
Abby got some pretty cool presents this year. She got an Abby & Dora's Great Adventure book that had her own picture in it.
New Sheets with Dora & Boots--they are very bright pink!
New clothes to wear in the fall...
And a new Tricycle. I am really excited about this. Probably more excited than Abby and Jason combined...oh well.
