Check back here periodically for updates and pictures of Abby and her proud parents.
So a lot of things have happened in the past couple of weeks since our last post. As we stated last time, we went shopping at REI and bought Abby a backpack so she can be carried around in while hiking. We have tested the backpack out a couple of times. Our first hike was a great success. We headed up to the Kerr Lake Dam in Virginia, where the lake is called Buggs Island Lake. There is a small park that has a trail, right before the dam that Nikki, a friend here at camp used to go running at and April, another camp friend used to boulder these boulders.
Jason, Abby, and I went on the 1 mile hike on a Sunday morning. It was nice to be out in the woods again. Abby thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Approximately 10 minutes after this photo she was dead asleep. Luckily, the front of her section is padded thickly so she doesn't bang her head on anything hard. In the weekends following this hike Jason has been sick twice. One time he was sick enought that we headed to the ER to make sure that he was going to be alright. The weekend following, he had a bad temperature and felt weak and sickly. Luckily Abby and I have not gotten sick...and hopefully we won't. Although some days I wish I could be sick so that I won't have to go to work. I think everyone wishes for a sick day once in awhile. Sick enough that you can't go to work but not too sick so you don't enjoy the time away. It is always a good day to watch a lot of really bad movies. Anyway, back to Abby.
Abby is growing quickly. We frequently go through her closet to make sure that we are remembering to pull out all the clothes that might fit her at this time. We don't want to forget about anything and not remember until she is too big to wear it. Back in August, Matt and Ruth
held a
baby shower for Jason and I. It was great times. It was stinking hot for those people who weren't preggie. I was dying. Anyway. While we were there, my mom gave us a box of clothing that she had saved from when me and my siblings were growing up. In the box was this outfit, which Abby tried on last weekend. Since she is smiling a lot now, we luckily got a good shot with the outfit and a smile. We tried on all of the outfits which all came with little hats like this one. How cute.
Additionally we continue to get packages with really cute outfits in them. Kendra and Becka are definately making Abby look good. She wore pink all week at daycare because of the Valentine's gifts she received. The ladies at day care kept making comments because she doesn't typically wear pink and that was the color of the week. She even was wearing a pink hat and the pink jacket that Ruth gave her for Christmas. Additionally Abby is no longer the youngest baby at day care. There is a little girl at day care who is 3 days younger than Abby and probably out weighs her by a good 3 or 4 pounds. It is crazy. The girl also has 2 inch long hair. Abby is still trying to pass the 1/2 centimeter hair length. We did decide it was time to try giving her something to eat besides milk. This past week we have introduced Rice Cereal to her diet. Ummm Yummy. Yes I tried it. It is kind of gross. Sweet but not very appetizing. Some days she eats more than others, but everyday it is covering her face.
