Check back here periodically for updates and pictures of Abby and her proud parents.
As we continue to watch the boys grow up & develop as individuals, life as we know it continues to become more complex. We are a little overwhelmed with keeping sane as we live in a house with 3 children who are becoming more and more independent. The boys have been happily contained within our outdoor play yard for the past 9 months. They played together nicely and spent time playing with harmonicas and different balls & looking at books. Over the last week or so we have enabled them some freedom, allowing them to walk around the house...and so they hate going back into the play yard. They are mean to each other, rather Nathan is mean to Aleks...pushing him over, stealing his toys, pulling on his sleeve so that his arm falls out of his neck hole. It is bad. Aleks is starting to fuss at everything and Nathan only wants what someone else has. We watched Nathan cycle between taking a talking birthday greeting card that Aleks was playing with & messing with Abby's DVD player. He would steal the card, Aleks would start crying, Abby would come get the card & give it back to Aleks, Nathan would run over to where Abby's DVD player was & start pushing buttons, Abby would run over & move the DVD player, Nathan would cycle back to Aleks & steal the card again, Abby would come save the day, etc, etc. So with the freedom of the boys comes the constant chaos of our house. Our books shelves are constantly being cleared, our tupperware & baby dishes are spread throughout the kitchen, and if we happen to be watching something in the living room & the boys are free than we know that sooner than later the boys will make the Cds start playing instead of the TV show. And it could keep happening time after time.
The boys are loving being outside. They spend a lot of time walking around the yard & picking up things. They love swinging and riding in the cart. Jason is glad to be out of the house as well. We have started our garden seedlings. They are looking good so far, I just hope that they don't die before we can get them into the ground. This year we are trying to plant things that we might actually eat. The dilemma that I have with planting & growing a garden is that I don't truly know what to do with all of the things that grow & I hate weeding...thus it makes life difficult for my plants & produce.
Nathan and Aleks are both getting teeth. I think they are called the eye teeth? Either way it is pretty painful & highly drooly. The boys are pretty fussy at night and Nathan is no longer sleeping through the night. It is such a bummer. Aleks is still able to sleep & is winning the prize for calmest, most chill baby. Nathan does have a lot of redeeming qualities including his ability to smile at everything & being a happy baby in public. He knows to save his ear piercing screams for the house! Nathan is also an expert climber. We currently have 2 dining room chairs & a kitchen stool in the bathroom. Why you might ask? It is pretty nerve wracking to have a youngster who can climb up things but doesn't know how to get down. The other morning we were getting ready to go out. Jason put Nathan down, got his shoes on, turned around & Nathan was up at the top of the stairs crying. At least he wasn't at the bottom of the stairs crying. It could have been worse.
Oh well, This is a pretty intense update, which hasn't been done in forever. I hope it isn't as long a break between updates next time.
