Check back here periodically for updates and pictures of Abby and her proud parents.
This week has been an eventful week. Last Friday Abby came home from day care looking healthy. By Saturday afternoon, she was puking. She continued puking the rest of Saturday night, Early Sunday morning until about 8:30 a.m. when we finally called the on-call doctor who said we should try getting her to take some pedialite to help replenish what she had lost. She took that well for a couple of hours, so we tried to feed her some milk again. This worked well until 3 o'clock in the morning, when she puked all over me again. This was the 5th or 6th time. It was probably the nastiest thing I have had to experience yet. Abby didn't go to day care on Monday, which meant I didn't go to work. I was OK with that, although trips to the doctor and puking babies aren't really relaxing. The following day, Abby went to day care and I went to work. Until about 11:00, when Amy called saying that Abby hadn't taken more than 2 oz. all morning and was screaming her head off. I could hear her over the phone. It didn't sound good. So I got to go home early. Which was a good thing because I wasn't done with my homework for class but a bad thing because I didn't have a lot of time to do work things. Oh well. From what Jason says Abby was a big pain in the butt for him on Tuesday night, apparently crying the entire time I was gone. Wednesday she made it the whole day at day care, and I made it through work, although I didn't get that much done. She has moved out of the puking stage and into the liquid poop stage. Absolutely disgusting. I haven't got that all over me yet, but I am just giving it time.
Abby turned 6 months old today. She is becoming more independent daily. She is starting to form letter sounds. Our favorite is "Da, Da." We keep repeating it and pointing to Jason so that she realizes that her sound is actually his name. She is able to grasp many differen objects with ease and stick most of those items in her mouth. As you can see in the following picture, she is able to sit up on her own. It is really cute to watch her and Jason together. He enjoys playing for her and she doesn't scream or typically cry when he is playing.
She is also becoming more loving. She will lean her head against your shoulder and will smile largely when someone she knows comes into a room. She jumps up and down in her exersaucer when she thinks that someone will be picking her up. It is amazing. I am glad that she is getting over her cold. We'll take more pictures and post again soon. 6 month immunizations this week. Yuck.
We got told that it was time for a new Abby post, and so we are meeting the needs of our readers. Abby is doing well. She will be 6 months old on March 26th. This is a very exciting milestone for Ms. Abigail, and for her parents. It has been 6 months and we haven't done anything too horrible to her. Seriously though, she is doing well. Her newest fad is to start chewing on everything. She gnaws on anything that she can get in her mouth. Below is a ring from her play gym thing, which she still loves, although she enjoys sitting up rather than lying on her back.
Abby wakes up each morning in a good mood with lots of smiles and giggles. She is reaching out to touch faces and spends the morning looking really cute. It definitely makes it hard to get ready for work in the morning. Although when ever we hear her poop in the morning, one of us usually makes a run for the shower so that we don't have to change her. I'll admit that it is usually me who
lets Jason change her and I go shower.
Abby is spending more time on her belly in hopes that she will be a crawling baby. There is a little boy at daycare that is a butt scooter. He never crawled, he just scooted along on his butt. Now he is walking. Speaking of Daycare, Abby is doing well. I believe that I said before that she is no longer the youngest. I heard from Jody & Amy(our infant room teachers), that a bunch of the older boys will be moving up into the next room. Actually the might be opening an interum room called the wobbler room, because the kiddos are walking but not quite up to toddler standards. So Abby will have some new friends soon. Although I am not quite sure what her boyfriend, Beau thinks about it. It is really cute. Beau comes running up to us when we get to the room and wants to give Abby a hug and a kiss(which entails resting his head against hers) All of the little boys love her but Beau the most.
Abby is smiling frequently. She still has other parents who come down to see her after they drop off their older kids to the toddler room. She got to hang out with Uncle Bob a couple of weekends ago. He gave her the coolest Elephant toy. It sings and lights up. Way cool. Anyway, we took a walk around camp with Abby in the backpack, explaining camp to Uncle Bob. We had a great weekend, although it was hard to get a good picture of both Uncle Bob and Abby.
As always we are trying to help Abigail along as much as we can academically. We read to her, not on a regular basis, but occasionally. At this point and time she is more interested in eating the books than reading them. I am thinking about publishing a list of the books that Abigail has so that we can avoid repeats, because we love books and it is always a great gift. Below we are reading an Eric Carle book. Abigail enjoyed it.
